1st regional conference on Endometriosis in Reggio Emilia

Mona Lisa Smile, participated in the meeting “Endometriosis: from the regional network to the multidisciplinary approach” in the field of the regional campaign “Endometriosi: firma adesso!”, that took place in Reggio Emilia on 1st april 2023 at the historical and splendid setting of Sala del Tricolore.

The Conference, organized by Comune di Reggio Emilia together with campaign “Endometriosi: firma adesso!”, is a prestigious meeting that saw a multidisciplinary audience and included stakeholders like politicians, associations and clinicians.

The conference hosted excellent speakers, to understand the disease from a multidisciplinary perspective, with attention to the different phases of the patient's life, taking stock of the objectives achieved so far to date at a regional level. The focus was also to the news coming from European programs in which Italian doctors are leaders of important research and training projects will also be discussed.

On this occasion, Dr. Giulia Borghese, a Medical Doctor, specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics, from the IRCCS team, presented the Mona Lisa Smile project to a large audience, spreading important information about the project goals. ’Mona Lisa smile’: professional education and early diagnosis of endometriosis in adolescence, is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the EU.

“Mona Lisa Smile” develops a digital training (MOOCS) and a specific app, and addresses the needs of education and training of health professionals on endometriosis in adolescence, with the aim of reducing the diagnostic delay.

The University of Bologna is the project coordinator, with the support of 5 European partners:
